What happens when an employee transitions from Full-Time to Part-Time?
Complicated PPACA regulations and scenarios are starting to cause employers significant difficulty and liability.
Here is the answer.........Of course, there is not just one answer it's still PPACA!
If an employee changes from a full-time position to a part-time position and the employee is in a stability period, the offer of coverage must continue through the stability period.
If an employee changes from a full-time position to a part-time position and the employee is in the initial measurement period coverage must be offered no later than the first day of the fourth calendar month in which the change took place.
If an employee transitions from full-time to part-time and is actually terminated then only COBRA needs to be offered.
